Connecting Johor’s Central Corridor

As a strategic initiative by the Ministry of Transport (MOT), the extension utilizes part of the Gemas – Johor Bahru Electrified Double Tracking Project (PLBEGJB) alignment. The new route expands from the initial services introduced on June 16, which covered the Kulai – JB Sentral and Kempas Baru – Pasir Gudang routes.

The extended route will serve seven key stations:

Paloh, Kluang, Renggam, Layang-Layang, Kulai, Kempas Baru, JB Sentral.

The total journey from Paloh to JB Sentral will take approximately 120 minutes. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) 2025 estimates, the expanded network across Kluang, Kulai, Pasir Gudang, and Johor Bahru stands to benefit up to 2.5 million residents.

Schedules and Capacity

To accommodate daily commuters and early-morning cross-border workers, KTMB will offer 10 daily trips (five in each direction), with a capacity of up to 400 passengers per trip.

Earliest departure (Paloh to JB Sentral): Departs at 3:55 AM, arriving at 5:52 AM.

Latest departure (JB Sentral to Paloh): Departs at 8:30 PM, arriving at 10:27 PM.

Commuters will also benefit from synchronized travel schedules at the Kempas Baru Station, allowing easy transfers to the Kempas Baru – Pasir Gudang route. This integration strengthens connections between residential areas and key industrial hubs in Southern Johor.

Since introduce, the Shuttle Selatan has already recorded 3,209 passengers on its initial routes, reflecting positive public response toward reliable rail transport.

Promotional Fares and Travel Passes

To encourage public transport usage, KTMB is offering promotional fares until new electric trains are introduced:

Promotional Single Fares: The standard RM15.30 fare between Paloh and JB Sentral is reduced to RM7.70 for a one-way trip.

Kad Komuter Madani: All 3,000 issued cards remain valid across the entire extended Shuttle Selatan corridor through September 16, 2026.

MyRailLife Pass: Free travel passes are extended through December 31, 2026 for children aged 4 to 6, primary and secondary school students (Standard 1 to Form 6), and Persons with Disabilities (OKU).

Concession Discount: A 50% discount applies to senior citizens, disabled individuals (OKU), retirees, and children aged 2 to 12 upon registration with the KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS).
