KVDT Simpang Pel. Klang Site Visit - 26 Dec 2023

KVDT Simpang Pel. Klang Site Visit

On this day, 11 members from MTREC alongside enthusiasts from various groups such as Malayan Railway Fan Club (Official) and Malaysia Land Public Transport Fans - MLPTF, participated in a collaborative group visit to Simpang Pelabuhan Klang to learn more about the latest information on the status of KVDT1, as well as the functions and features of multiple engineering trains and machinery used to carry out trackwork projects.

To kickstart the day, Mr. Haniff Ghazali, DMIA’s Group Vice President of Corporate Communications welcomed us at the Ang Seng Site Cabin. Our visit began with a safety briefing at the site cabin by Mr. Prabagaran Muniandy, the Head of Safety, Health & Environment. This was followed by a photo showcase of the stages and progress of KVDT between 2018 to 2022 by Mr. Haniff.

Then after, participants were invited to the Construction Railway Operations (CRO) area under the supervision of the on-duty officers. Crossing over to the opposite side of the track, participants got a closer look at the M2 and M3 tracks, which are in the final stages of track rehabilitation works.

Upon crossing over to Jalan Bangsar side, participants were given a detailed presentation on how the S2PV track laying machine works. This machine is designed to install pre-fabricated tracks in very limited or tight construction areas. All pre-fabricated tracks were delivered from the Serendah site.

Following that, we were given an exclusive tour around the Tamping Machine (08-3S) and Ballast Regulator (PBR500), both manufactured by Plasser & Theurer. Participants witnessed these machines in action, including the refueling process. Selected participants were even allowed to enter the machines and visit the operation cabin.

Lastly, our site visit concluded with a group photo with all the participants. As a token of appreciation to DMIA for hosting our visit, a memento was offered. We extend our gratitude to DMIA and all the personnel involved for making this visit a success once more.

This educational visit to KVDT Simpang Pelabuhan Klang shows a success in our group, especially considering our first collaboration with other railway fans. We look forward to organising more events in the future. Do join our group for updates at https://www.facebook.com/groups/mtrec
